The 2018 Black Authors and Readers Rock (BARR) Weekend was held September 14-15, 2018 at the Harborside Hotel in Oxon Hill, Maryland. BARR is a two day literary conference featuring over 25 authors and readers. BARR is hosted by founder and planner Sharon Lucas, The Reading Divas Book Club, The Sugar and Spice Book Club of New York City, and the Literary Ladies of New Jersey. Mrs. Lucas was one of the 20 contributing authors to the 2016 bestselling book The Ex Chronicles - a book about overcoming failed relationships.
Guest Speakers
The weekend included several panel discussions including a men in literature session. This year’s guest speakers were Victoria Christopher Murray and ReShonda Tate Billingsley -award winning authors and founders of Brown Girl Books publishing company. Some of the latest releases include Reasonable Insanity, Butterfly Arising, Faith Alone, and If Only For One Night.
